When CAmagazine last met Charles-Antoine St-Jean in August 2005 ("Steward of spending"), he was comptroller general of Canada, a position he left in the fall of 2007 when Ernst & Young asked him to rejoin the firm. "They asked me to return to the fold as partner, national leader public sector," explains St-Jean. "I spent the lion's share of my career with the firm. It's my second family." Reforms led by this Granby, Que., native helped Canada weather the 2007 financial crisis without too much fallout. Auditor general Sheila Fraser praised these efforts in the last report she released before leaving her post in 2011.
