BLACK PRINCE AGREES SALE TO FIRST

The best-known Yorkshire independent, Black Prince Buses of Morley, has agreed to transfer its business to First West Yorkshire, allowing proprietor Brian Crowther to retire. The deal - subject to 40-days' consideration by the Office of Fair Trading - would give First a monopoly of all local commercial routes in Leeds, although it continues to compete with Arriva and Blazefield on out-of-town corridors. Smaller operators provide services tendered by Metro, the West Yorkshire PTE.
