Revamp expected for Plaxton's Primo midibus

A year after it was taken over by Alexander Dennis, the bus industry is rife with reports that Plaxton is radically re-engineering its Primo midibus. The Primo is a UK version of the Plasma midibus developed in Britain and produced in Hungary by Enterprise Bus, a UK-owned company formed out of a chassis design operation set up in Hungary by Plaxton in 1999 and inherited by TransBus International the following year. Enterprise running units in stainless steel body frames, which Plaxton completes in its Scarborough coach plant. Enterprise developed the Plasma initially for the Hungarian market, but the tie-up with the reformed management-owned Plaxton in 2004 gave Plaxton quick access to the small midibus market with a product intended to compete with the Optare Solo while also providing Enterprise Bus with larger production volumes.
