Azienda Trasporti Municipali di Milano (ATM), the municipal operator in the northern Italian city of Milan, has ordered 60 new Van Hool articulated trolleybuses with Vossloh-Kiepe electrics, with an option to buy 30 more. Four or five a month will be delivered from October for Italy's largest urban trolleybus operation with four routes under 40km of overhead, part of it on lanes reserved for future tramway extensions. At its peak in 1958, the system - dating from 1933 -extended to more than 100km, but large sections were dewired in the 1980s.
