Cedric's Has Been Synonymous with transport in the Essex village of Wivenhoe, south of Colchester, for over 70 years, initially as the village garage, later also as a small-scale operator of coaches. Today it has nine Leyland Olympian double-deck buses and 10 assorted coaches and last year relocated to a new depot at Ardleigh, to the east of Colchester. The Cedric Coaches title came from the middle name of founder Arthur Cedric Peck and its then cream and maroon livery was firmly established with the arrival of the first new coach, a typical immediate postwar Duple Vista-bodied Bedford OB, which operated alongside a varied, changing and growing fleet of secondhand purchases. Its second new coach was a Duple Yeoman-bodied Ford Thames 570E. and another 20 years elapsed before it bought new again.
