My Thanks to Howard Piltz and Guy Halford-I MacLeod for again unearthing examples of buses -British ones even - portrayed on recent postage stamps.rnHoward drew my attention to the inclusion of one of the dozen most notable postwar British buses within a Royal Mail set of 10 issued on 13 January to celebrate British design icons and their creators. The bus, I guess almost inevitably, is the London Routemaster, specifically 1954 prototype RM1, and the stamp also honours design team leader A. A. M. Durrant.rnIt shares the limelight with the London Underground map, BMC Mini, Spitfire fighter, Concorde, miniskirt, anglepoise lamp, polypropylene chair, red phone box and Penguin paperback.
