Bristol Hopes To Open First Bus Rapid Transit Lin In 2013

Plans are being progressed for the first phase of a cross-city guided bus rapid transit (BRT) network to be built in Bristol by 2013. The West of England Partnership of Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire and Bath & North East Somerset councils has backed away from trying to push through controversial plans for two cross-city lines and instead hopes to fast-track the least contentious of these for a 7km route connecting the city centre with Ashton Vale, in southwest Bristol. This would serve the existing Long Ashton 1,500-car park-&-ride site close to the A3 70 Brunei Way, loop through the city centre and terminate at Temple Meads railway station.
