Designer Reveals Plans For Routemaster Freighter

One of the unsuccessfui entrants in London Mayor Boris Johnson's 'new Routemaster' design competition has released details of his concept to encourage backers to put it into production. Hugh Frost's On-Route is a six-wheel rear platform double-decker with 90 seats and room for 40 standees, to be powered either as a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) electric hybrid, with batteries or hydrogen fuel-cells. A 'crab steer' arrangement would enable it to turn within its own length and pull into awkward bus stop bays.
