Thirty years ago, on 6 october 1980, the Transport Act 1980 unleashed a flood of commuter coaches on to the streets of London. That was the day when services on which passengers could only make journeys of 30miles or more were released from the licensing regime that they had been subject to since 1930. Deregulation had begun.
