Blue plaque for The Guv'nor

I am pleased to see that one of the bus industry's pioneers, T. H. Barton, has been honoured with a blue plaque attached to Barton House, the erstwhile transport company's head office in Chilwell, Nottingham. Former English Heritage chairman Sir Neil Cossons performed the honours on 25 August in memory of the man known before his death in 1946 as The Cuv'nor. He is the first person in the area to receive such an honour, marking not only his successful development of a large bus company built up from 1908 but also his many experiments with early diesel engines and high-capacity vehicles.
