With 129 buses, Rochdale was slap bang in the middle, size-wise, of the 11 municipal undertakings swallowed up by Selnec, the South East Lancashire North East Cheshire Passenger Transport Executive, on 1 November 1969. Its fleet was about 10% of the size of Manchester's, the largest, and 10 times the size of the smallest, Ramsbottom.
