Battersea Garage transformed in ￡7million rebuild

One of the finest transformations of bus garage premises I have ever seen is that at Battersea, where the London mayor Boris Johnson officially opened Abellio London's ￡7million new depot before going on to use the premises to announce more details of London's new three-door double-decker (see p26).rnCompared to what the site used to be like, the change is remarkable. It is on former railway land leased from Network Rail. There is a vast open-air parking area with an excellent surface, a separate bus-washing area and a two-storey maintenance building. Foundations have been providedrnand planning approval already gained for possible extensions to both washing plant and maintenance building.
