The route exchange of Go North East's Ashington business and Arriva North East's at Hexham is to take place on 28 March, following the Office of Fair Trading's decision to clear the deal without a reference to the Competition Commission.rnIronically given its own major tangles with the competition authorities, Stagecoach's presence as a major operator in north-east England appears to have helped allay the OFT's concerns about the impact of this exchange.rnThe OFT says the deal, which Go-Ahead and Arriva referred to it for clearance or rejection, does give rise to a realistic prospect of a substantic lessening of competition in both of the affected areas.
