The sun was setting on Albion Motors as a major independent bus manufacturer, its management having decided three years earlier to phase out dropped frame chassis production. An invitation from Glasgow Corporation to tender for the supply of 145 double-decker chassis had been turned down in 1948, confirming that decision. In any event, Young's Bus Service of Paisley had changed its allegiance from Albion to Daimler and Leyland in the postwar years while Red & White, another significant customer, was being nationalised in 1950 and would no longer buy Albions. Even with this background, 50 Venturer CX37 double-decker chassis were supplied to South African Railways during the year, while over 50 others went to Glasgow Corporation; South Yorkshire Motors, Pontefract; and Campbell, Pitsea. After 1950, only 25 more Venturers were built.
