Newest London seats are a pain in the backside

I was concerned to read in your show report (Buses last month) about Transport for London's desire to take the weight out of its buses by reducing seat quality. London's buses have tended to show at least a half decent standard of comfort, and I have been impressed with the comfort of many (though by no means all) of its low-floor double-deckers.rnOn the first Monday after double-deckers replaced bendybuses, I travelled to Pentonville Road from Victoria on a brand new WrightrnGemini 2DL integral double-decker on route 38. The bus itself was profoundly impressive; it was quiet, seemed well built with no rattles, adequate performance for the job from its litde Cummins engine and exceptional ride quality. What let it down was the awful seats, hard plastic with a thin covering of moquette with no padding whatsoever.
