Two directors go in major Reading restructure

Reading Transport finance director James Carney and operations director Sam Simpson (below) have left the council-owned company following a major management restructure that abolished their posts.rnCarney, who also was company secretary, had been in post sincern1991. Northern Ireland-born Simpson, Route One Bus Manager of the Year in 2006, took up his post in 2002 and is credited with a successful eorganisation of the engineering department and withrndevising a fleet replacement programme that saw a shift away from Optare to mainly Scania products. He has been a powerful advocate of the exhaust gasrnrecirculation (ECR) approach to Euro4 and Euro5 emissions and chaired the Ethanol Bus User Croup.
