A sequel to a recent volume on the South Walesrnmunicipals, this well captioned picture albumrnoffers an even more colourful reminder of overrn50 operators operating stage carriage, contractrnand private hire buses from the 1960s to the earlyrn1980s, some in their new owners' liveries, othersrnin the colours of their first lives. The timespanrnallows the selection to range from rear-entrance,rnexposed radiator halfcabs to dual-door rear-rnengined Fleetlines and Atlanteans, while therngeographical coverage stretches from deeplyrnrural to intense urban. Inevitably, most of thernoperators have disappeared, but there are a few evergreen survivors like Silcox of Pembroke Dock and Richards Bros of Cardigan, as well as reminders of the first twitches of deregulation when CK Coaches ran competing low-fare buses in Cardiff.
