摘要

John Seale (You Write, November) stated that an engine suspended from the top, as used in the MCW Metrobus, was the idea of John Rook at Daimler.rnThe Metrobus did not appear, at least in public, until the end of 1977, so in the interest of historical accuracy it should be noted that the Leyland Titan (B15) was running in prototype form from 1975 with a suspended engine (and the idea was subsequendy used in the Olympian too).rnNot only that, but the Scania CR76 and CR111 series, which formed the basis of MCWs Metro-Scania and Metropolitan before the Metrobus appeared, also had suspended engines. And from a study of photographs, it would appear that the rear-engined Leyland single-deck integral prototype of 1936 may also have had a suspended engine.
