Green Bus Fund awards take hybrids well beyond London

Hybrid and all-electric buses will become an everyday sight in many more parts of England than just London, following the government's announcement of the winners of its £30.2million Green Bus Fund competition in England.rnSeventeen operators and seven local transport authorities will share the funds, which are designed to kick-start the introduction of low carbon buses between now and March 2012. The funds will buy 349 buses, only 46 of which will join the existing fleet of 56 in London. Transport for Londonrnhas been allocated £5million of the fund, which covers the price difference between low carbon and conventional diesel buses.
