Simulating real life to help new users

You are unlikely to see route number DF2 on a London bus, but it is used internally on an unusual operation run by First London in conjunction with Transport for London's Travel Monitoring Service, the Metropolitan Police Safer Transport Team and some London boroughs. The scheme provides disabled Londoners with an introduction to independent travel. The double-decker used follows a pre-planned route and stops at (quiet) bus stops en route, where passengers board and alight. At the start, small disabled groups comprising mainly young people, each group with a mentor, ride upstairs and are told - informally - how to travel by bus and, for example, where not to stand and much else that most of us take for granted. At a stop they dismount and the bus drives off.
