Dates set for 2012 AEC and Midland Red centenary events

Dates have been set for two significant centenary events next year, one for AEC at its original home in Walthamstow, north-east London, the other at the Wythall Transport Museum for Midland Red's resumption of motorbus operation. The AEC event is on 10 June, with a pageant of 20 AEC buses and lorries from the Royal Forest Hotel in Chingford, past the old AEC works site at Blackhorse Road to Walthamstow Pumphouse Museum. Event director Lindsay Collier will select vehicles from details provided by their owners. Additional AECs will be required for connecting visitor services.
