In common, i have no doubt, with many other parts of the country, my local newspaper has been filled recently with the story of the battle to save the number 10 bus - the Stagecoach service between Camberley and Basingstoke, which passes through Yateley where I live. Like many of its kind, this route can trace its origins to the heyday of bus service growth in the last century and has operated continuously throughout the Aldershot & District, Alder Valley and now Stagecoach eras. In recent years, the entire service (roughly hourly on Mondays to Saturdays) has been diverted through Yateley (it used to be just weekday peak journeys) and I would expect that gained it rather more traffic than the admittedly faster direct run along the A30 passing little in the way of housing.
