Volvo to launch new citybus at Busworld, develops 'plug-In' hybrid

Volvo Buses will officially launch its new 7900 single-deck citybus at Busworld in Kortrijk, Belgium on 21-26 October, while MAN will unveil its first Euro6-engined buses. This successor to the 7700 integral bus - only available in left-hand-drive - is lighter in weight with potential for lower fuel consumption and higher passenger capacity. Many body parts are shared with the low-entry Volvo 8900 regional and city bus launched last year on B7RLE and B9RLE running units. The 7900 at Busworld -Europe's premier coach and bus show this year - is a hybrid, with the same running units as the B5LH double-decker sold in the UK. Volvo has already sold approximately 250 hybrid buses to a large number of cities in Europe and also in South America.
