VDL Futura named International Coach of the Year

The new generation VDL Futura - currently only available in left-hand-drive - has been judged International Coach of the Year for 2012. Journalists representing industry magazines from 19 countries -one of them Bus & Coach Buyer in the UK - selected the Dutch-built Futura out of six contenders at a test event in Norway in June. They admired its build quality, performance, manoeuvrability, opulence and driver comfort. Launched at last year's IAA exhibition in Hannover, the first right-hand-drive versions are likely to appear at Euro Bus Expo in Birmingham in November next year. It will eventually replace the existing Bova Futura and the Berkhof Axial in VDL's rationalised coach range.
