Allover red buses in London and beyond

How short are memories concerning the London allover red livery, particularly the recall of Brian Morgan (You Write last month) who asks 'When were London buses ever allover red in years gone by?'. Obviously Mr Morgan did not visit the 1970 Commercial Motor Show, where would have been seen London Transport Daimler Fleetline CRG6/Park Royal DMS1 and DMS2, both in unrelieved allover red livery and the ensuing buses were so liveried. However, in April 1971 DMS76 appeared with white relief at cantrail level, but only on the sides. Somebody liked it as DMS118-367 were delivered in this livery, albeit DMS368 seeing a reversion to allover red. Until DMS1968 that is, which was delivered in the attractive scheme where all upper deck windows received white-painted surrounds, this livery continuing until the end of deliveries. But, on repaint, all of the aforementioned DMS 'relief liveries reverted to all-red, ditto the MD-class Metropolitans.
