Royal Lioness is Pride of Leyland Show

The PSV Circle records the first owner of this Thurgood-bodied Leyland Lioness PLC1 - photographed at this year's Leyland Bus & Coach Show at the British Commercial Vehicle Museum - as King George V. Strictly speaking, Leyland supplied YT 3738 to the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace in July 1927. Its main role was to convey staff and luggage between royal residences, but the King also used it as a shooting brake at Sandringham and instructed that it be painted dull grey. It outlived the King, being sold to jersey Motor Transport in 1938, converted into a fully-seated coach with sliding roof and painted in its green and cream livery.
