Aston Manor to close in October

Aston manor transport museum will close after this year's final running day on 16 October. Its landlord, Birmingham City Council, has refused to budge in the long running dispute over the terms of a lease for the museum to take over the former tram depot. It has served notice for the museum to quit the inner city premises by the end of the year. The deal breaker was the city council's insistence that the museum - which has secured £110,000 of pledges against a £500,000 fundraising target - meets a shortfall in commercial rent following City Museums' decision to stop paying rent two years ago.
