Veolia's British empire has shrunk further with its exit from Nottingham, leaving even less of the business built up between 2005 and 2007 available to be merged with fellow French group Transdev's remaining English operations. Nottingham was the heart of Alternative Investment Market-listed Dunn-Line, one of the biggest of Veolia's acquisitions in a buying spree intended to re-establish it in the UK public transport market following its loss - as Connex - of its two rail franchises and the sale of its London bus operation to National Express.
