Conwy council threatens to remove shelters unless locals pay up

A Welsh council is threatening to demolish bus shelters if town or community councils fail to fund their upkeep.rnConwy County Borough Council has a budget of ￡8,000 a year to maintain bus stops. It estimates its 216 shelters will need ￡43,000 to ￡100,000 of maintenance a year, following expiry of a three-year contract with a shelter supplier. Council officers propose a bus-stop fund into which each town and community council pays ￡250 annually per bus stop in their area.
