Jersey bus contract to go up for grabs

The contract to provide public and school bus services in jersey is to be retendered, with enhanced all-year services planned to be in place by 2012.The current contract, held by Veolia-owned Connex Jersey, has been in place for public services since 2002 and for schoolbuses since 2007. Advertisements seeking expressions of interest from operators were due to be published in late November.A big change this time round is that the bus service will form part of Jersey's Sustainable Transport Plan (STP), which aims to reduce car dependence on the Channel Island and achieve a significant shift towards more sustainable forms of transport.
