Bus passengers in Wales face higher fares or service cuts as the Welsh Assembly Government prioritises concessionary travel and rail spending.Grants for bus services could fall by about 9% next year, according to WAG's draft budget. This is expected to comprise cuts to Bus Service Operators Grant and reduced Local Transport Services Grant to councils (£11 million this year). A WAG spokesman said no decision had been made on these grants by late November. 'Current arrangements are being revised to identify how savings can be reached and supporting the most sustainable forms of service provision.'
