Birmingham back bus rapid transit

Centro -the west Midlands transport authority - has teamed up with Birmingham City Council, National Express and the city's business districts to propose a network of four cross-city bus rapid transit (BRT) lines to complement the Midland Metro tramway.The newly formed partnership has produced Vision for Movement, a blueprint for what it describes as a comprehensive network of rapid transit, bus, rail, cycling and walking routes to help promote the regeneration of England's second largest city. By opting for bus- rather than tram-based rapid transit, it says it could create a 'well connected, efficient and walkable city' by finding transport solutions that are 'realistic and deliverable in the short to medium term' as part of a 20-year plan to transform the city centre.
