With reference to your editorial comment and Brian Cox's Inside Track articles in last month': Buses, four points need to be considered about the pensioners' free concessionary bus pass scheme in England. These are not necessarily related directly to the bus industry.1.It would be difficult for the UK government to take unilateral action on changing the English scheme, as it once again would make English pensioners the second class pensioners in the UK.2.David Cameron, in reply to comments made by the Labour Party before the general election, personally promised that the pass would not be abolished.3.Pensioners are more likely to vote in elections than any other section of the population. It is a brave or foolhardy politician who breaks promises made to Densioners
