Hartlepool may be more car dependent

I find it odd and surprising that the Campaign for Better Transport claims that Wigan is England's most car dependent town (Buses last month). That town has a fairly modern, spacious and well used central bus station and two busy railway stations giving access to a mainly pedestrianised shopping centre, with little sign of car parks.Compare this to Hartlepool, which apart from a half-mile section has an extremely busy dual carriageway running through the town with few safe pedestrian crossing points.
