Solaris rapid transit trolleybus whirrs into streets of Salzburg

The Austrian city of Salzburg has taken delivery of the world's first Solaris Trollino Metrostyle trolleybus. With a nose cone borrowed from the Tramino tram, the bus rapid transit (BRT)-style vehicle is based on the Polish company's Metrostyle Urbino 1 8 hybrid shown at Busworld in Kortrijk last October. Nine of the Trollinos with Cegelec electrics enter service in July and August in a new maroon-based livery designed by a Vienna artist. It includes the fleetname Obus - German name for trolleybus - to distinguish them from the city's Stadtbus diesels.
