Go North East has put a campaign bus on the road to try and persuade the travelling public to support its argument that partnerships with PTE Nexus would work better than local politicians' preference for London-style quality contracts in Tyne & Wear. The disagreement over the future management of the region's buses has prompted some robust language from Stagecoach and comes as operator/transport authority relationships in two other PTE areas - West Yorkshire and West Midlands - take starkly different courses. In West Yorkshire, PTE Metro is holding out for a better ticketing deal from operators before considering dropping plans for quality contracts, while Centro in the West Midlands is stressing the trust it has built up with operators.
