Major route revamp coming

First has signalled that Southampton is one of the urban areas in which it wants to grow commercially, with the announcement of a revamped commercial network from 29 April. Some new routes are being created and the network is being simplified, using a logical series of numbers to explain the services, i.e. 1, 2, X2, 3, 4/AA4, 5, 6, 7, 8/A, 9, 10 and S1. Cross-city journeys are being restored and key corridors gain increased frequencies. Marc Reddy, First's commercial and business growth director for South West & Wales. Says: 'Ultimately we're trying to make it easier for local people to use our buses, designing our commercial network so that it appeals to the greatest number of people.
