One could say that 1984 was the year of the double-deck coach. Plaxton launched the Paramount 4000, MCW unveiled the Metroliner and ECW revamped its coach body for the Leyland Olympian coach with the first example shown in Ebdon's livery at that year's Motor Show. Fighting for its share of the limelight was the Alexander RDC.
