Use of buses was still growing and the traffic commissioners struggled to keep up with service developments. Having applied to start a Craig Avenue-Blairland town service in November 1950, Thomas Paterson of Dairy was granted permission in August 1951 (23 weekday return trips, 1 1 on Saturdays and 9 on Sundays). It was clearly successful; a revised timetable (28 weekday returns, 22 on Saturdays and 1 1 on Sundays) applied for in December 1951 was finally granted 10 months later, but sanction sought at the same time to run duplicates on the service was refused then.
