Irwin Dalton, NBC's last chief executive

Irwin Dalton, who ended his career as National Bus Company vice-chairman and chief executive during the privatisation process, died on 10 August, aged 81. He joined the bus industry in 1962 from a firm of chartered accountants and became company secretary of the West Riding Automobile Company in 1968 just before the business was purchased by the Transport Holding Company to become one of the constituents of NBC when it came into being on 1 January 1969.
