Edinburgh Corporation Transport tried an experimental lightweight (6ton 12cwt unladen) AEC Regent III 6813S with Pbrk Royal H32/26R body on several routes. Registered 7194 H and in City of Oxford livery, it is believed to have been the first PSV in Scotland with a reversed registration - and possibly the first double-decker with that type of mark. Its visit to the capital yielded no orders for AEC, as the corporation chose 100 Leyland Titan PD2/20s with lightweight Metro-Cammell bodies to replace trams on the Portobello and Corstorphine services. Another Titan added to the fleet during the year was 185 (FOF 298), a 1939 former Birmingham Leyland-bodied TD6 fitted with a Leyland Comet engine to test that small unit in a double-decker.
