'Feel free to indulge yourself, replied the editor when I asked whether a brief accompaniment about my own favourite buses from a driving perspective was in order. Neither the largest nor the most powerful Olympians, but impressive nevertheless, these were seven members of a batch of 10 entirely Leyland-built buses delivered to PMT during late summerl 989. Powered by a growling Cummins LI 0 engine driving through slick-shifting ZF transmission, which made effective use of the power available, six of the seven received a striking silver livery and were put to work on a relaunched flagship route between Hanley and Crewe where they replaced six of PMT's newest Bristol VRs.
