Orders placed for London's first low-floor buses

The In London section of our January 1993 issue brought news of an announcement as significant in its time as that a few months ago of the go-ahead for the 600 production version New Bus for London 'Borismasters'. This one was made by London Buses on 16 November 1 992 and was for the first 68 low-floor buses in the UK capital, due for delivery in 1993 although their arrival would be delayed into 1994. Merseytravel also got in early on the low-floor revolution, but it was London Transport's determination — led by a certain Andrew Braddock who then oversaw its provision of facilities for disabled passengers — that provided the kick-start this huge change required.
