Optare back in profit for second quarter of latest financial year

Optare turned in a pre-tax profit of ￡146,000 during the quarter from July to September last year, ending a period in which the bus manufacturer - now part of Indian group Ashok Leyland -racked up heavy losses. Over the six months to 30 September - the first half of its financial year - it still made a ￡ 1.18million pre-tax loss, but says these were all incurred in the first three months before it cleared the former East Lanes site at Blackburn, completed the sale of its former factory at Rotherham and stepped up production at its Sherburn-in-Elmet plant in North Yorkshire.
