The high standards among Britain's 11 surviving council-owned operators were underlined at the UK Bus Awards in November when Nottingham City Transport was named 2012 Bus Operator of the Year, Reading Transport was runner up and three others were finalists in two of the three operator of the year categories. For 11 successive years, NCT -England's largest municipal bus company and the second largest in Britain - was nominated for the awards.
