McGill's takes over Henderson work

McGill's Bus Service stepped in after Hamilton-based Henderson Travel apparently ceased trading on 29 October, taking its 50 buses off the road and failing to operate 20 contracts with Strathdyde Partnership for Transport. McGill's reached an agreement with the landlord of the Henderson depot in Blantyre, South Lanarkshire to use the premises to operate 13 of the contracts - for 27 supported services in Lanarkshire, Glasgow, Renfrewshire and East Dunbartonshire - on an emergency basis from 31 October. Most of Henderson's 120 staff have also accepted offers of employment with McGill's, which also honoured multi-journey tickets issued by Henderson. This expands McGill's operating territory from Renfrewshire to the south-west of Glasgow to serve communities to the east.
