Follow the trail of New Routemaster sculptures

An unusual idea - another part of the Year of the Bus - is Transport for London's sponsorship of 28 New Routemaster bus sculptures, each 2.5m long and 1m high, and painted and adorned by well-known or aspiring artists. They carry a great variety of colourful designs and have gone on display at various locations on four walking trails around London. There eventually will be 69 of them. Early in the New Year, they will be displayed together before being auctioned with proceeds shared between charities Kids Company, Transaid and the London Transport Museum. You may have to be a pretty determined and fit walker to see some of them, including one somewhere in the middle of the Olympic Park. They represent one of the more imaginative ideas accompanying the Year of the Bus, a twist on the Cow Parade statues that appeared worldwide a few years ago, some of them in London.
