Elegant elevated viewing platforms

On a recent visit to London, I found myself in Piccadilly with time on my hands and noticed the New Routemasters serving route 38, so I decided to give them a try. As a retired automotive designer, I have been critical of their exterior aesthetic qualities, but I must admit that they are, at present at least, unique to London thus I can forgive some of their shortcomings. Therefore I thought it an opportunity to assess their interior design. I boarded via the front entrance to enable the driver to check my bus pass and was then confronted with the lower saloon. There appeared to be a distinct lack of seats, due no doubt to three entrances and two staircases taking up much of the available space. Obviously this deck is much used by the elderly, mothers with buggies and handicapped people with wheelchairs, all of whom are unable to climb the stairs.
