Hybrids and electrics for 2020 ULEZ

Plans to adopt an ultra-low emission zone (ULEZ) in central London from 2020 would mean all double-deckers running there would be diesel-battery hybrids and all single-deckers battery electrics, Transport for London's surface transport managing director, Leon Daniels, told the Institution of Engineering & Technology in September. He says the first flywheel hybrid single-deckers, Alexander Dennis Enviro200s of Go-Ahead London General, will soon begin running on route 100 (Elephant & Castle-Shadwell station). Fitment of the flywheel is very simple and unobtrusive, says Daniels, and they will be 'easily maintained'.
