As a sports journalist covering many of the events, I had first hand experience of the huge logistical exercise that public transport providers undertook to move thousands of athletes, officials, spectators and volunteers around Glasgow and beyond during the 20th Commonwealth Games held in the city and beyond from 23 July to 3 August. As with all big events, one of the biggest issues the organisers had to overcome was to get the public from A to B at big venues in good time.
